Resumen
Initial rates of carbon deposition from 1,3-butadiene on Al2O3, MoO3/Al2O3 and NiOMoO3/Al203 were examined using He or H2 as diluting gas. The promoter (nickel) is found to have a hydrogenation role that suppresses carbon formation on the molybdate catalysts. Catalytic activity for thiophene hydrodesulfurization and carbon and sulfur content of aged catalysts are found to be related to this proposed role.
