Abstract
The Pashimbi archaeological site is a pioneer in the application of geophysical prospecting in the Ecuadorian Amazon. This paper aims to evaluate the benefits of ground-penetrating radar (GPR) for defining and interpreting archaeological contexts in alluvial terraces with relatively homogeneous deposits, typical of this region. A MALA ground-penetrating radar was used. The radargrams were processed with RadExplorer v.1.42. The results show that hyperbolic anomalies correspond to burning areas delimited by rocks and ceramic concentrations, horizontal linear markers reflect the physicochemical characteristics of the deposits, and curved markers, which intersect the latter, reveal evidence of post molds.
