Project Details
Summary
The Earth and Climate Sciences Research Group is made up of a multidisciplinary team of specialists dedicated to the study of the structure, morphology, evolution and dynamics of planet Earth, as well as its interactions with climate systems and their effects on the natural resources essential for society. Its work is aimed at generating scientific knowledge in the field of Earth Sciences in an ethical, transparent and accessible manner for the scientific community and society.
In this context, this project seeks to understand the geological phenomena and materials present in the province of Napo through the application of geophysical analyzes and physicochemical characterizations of soils. These activities will allow obtaining relevant information about the properties of the subsoil and the influence of natural and anthropic processes in the Amazon region.
The results of this research will contribute to improving knowledge about the geological materials and processes of the province, generating useful information for the development of future research and for academic training in the area of geosciences.

General Objective
Analyze the dynamics of geological processes and their interaction with climate systems and the biosphere, through the geophysical and geochemical study of soils and geological materials in the Ecuadorian Amazon, in order to understand the natural and anthropic factors that influence the evolution of the territory and the resources on which human societies depend.
Specific Objectives
O1. Analyze the geodynamic processes and the physical characteristics of the subsoil using geophysical and geochemical methods that allow us to understand the natural factors that control the dynamics of terrestrial systems in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
O2. Evaluate the influence of anthropogenic activities on the physical-chemical and geochemical properties of soils, in order to understand how human intervention modifies edaphic ecosystems.
