Summary
The Colonso Chalupas Biological Reserve and the Tena River basin (Ikiam Territory) are part of a highly complex ecological system and biodiversity, forming one of the largest tributaries of the Amazon in the Napo River.
In this "living laboratory," there are areas with strong human pressures due to land use, and other uninhabited and unexplored zones that harbor fragile ecosystems with exceptional biodiversity yet to be discovered. Certain key groups of animals and plants (amphibians, reptiles, arthropods, micromammals, fish, and ferns) are considered sensitive to environmental disturbances, some containing cryptic species with potential uses still to be discovered. This is the first proposal in the Ecuadorian Amazon aiming to develop systematic and comprehensive documentation of the biodiversity of key groups across an altitudinal gradient of unexplored ecosystems in the Ikiam Territory.

General Objective
Characterize the genetic diversity of key groups of animals and plants in the Colonso Chalupas Biological Reserve and the Tena River basin, consolidating an Amazonian Biobank at Ikiam.
Specific Objectives
1. Improve skills in dating methods (cosmogenic, paleodosimetry) for applications in geology and seismic hazard.
2. Foster collaboration among participants from different institutions (universities, research centers).
3. Disseminate sampling protocols, uncertainty analysis, and their impact on risk models.
